This blog introduces the relationship between the human ear and the frequencies that can be heard. Frequency refers to the number of vibrations of sound waves per second, measured in Hertz (Hz). Differences in frequency correspond directly to the pitch of the sound; sounds with lower frequencies (fewer vibrations) are low sounds, while sounds with higher frequencies (more vibrations) are high sounds. The human ear can hear a wide range of sounds, approximately from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (or 20 kHz), which is referred to as the "audible frequency range." Within the "audible frequency range," there are frequencies that are easier to hear and those that are harder to hear.
